Would you like a natural greenhouse cleaner, free of toxins?
Melaleuca essential oil is commonly referred to as “tea tree” oil. Melaleuca can purify surfaces and the air. It promotes clear breathing and protects against seasonal threats so while you are cleaning your greenhouse you are helping your body. Adding in a little peppermint essential oil will help to keep bugs away.
A greenhouse needs cleaned year round if it’s in use all year. Plants need plenty of sunshine especially in the winter. Regularly cleaning both sides is a must.
In summer, cleaning is key to rid the tiny insects that feed on your plants. Cleaning in April and October is generally the best time because the greenhouse will be the emptiest. During very busy periods, even just hosing off the roof helps.
Choose a day when there is some breeze – it helps dry the greenhouse that bit faster. First, lift off any moss or algae that has taken root on the glass. Anything that won’t scratch the glass is a good tool – plastic plant labels, are perfect. Then, start washing.
